This data layer is a digital, geospatial ArcGIS 10.x shapefile of Facility Planning Area (FPA) boundaries in the greater northeastern Illinois area through April 1, 2014. This area includes seven counties of Illinois, including Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Will along with parts of Grundy and Dekalb. A Facility Planning Area is defined as "a centralized sewer service area to be considered for possible wastewater treatment facilities within a 20-year planning period." These areas also include the treatment cells, storage area, and land application area for the treated wastewater.
This file was originally digitized directly into an Illinois State Plane, East Zone, coordinate system with ground coordinates stored in double precision and expressed in U.S. Survey Feet. The dataset is projected using the Transverse Mercator map projection, NAD 1983. Attributes developed for this dataset include the name of the FPA, the parent and sub-FPA names (where applicable), the type of FPA as well as whether or not the FPA is a part of a service agreement area . This dataset is only intended to approximate FPA boundaries. Positional accuracy of the FPA boundaries is no better than that of the source material, as drafted to 1:24,000-scale USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps. Legal descriptions must be reviewed for precise boundary locations.

",
